A little bit of knowledge goes a long way to extending the life of your septic system
Like any home appliance septic systems need regular maintainance to keep it running for as long as possible. Septic systems can be expensive to repair or replace and should be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis.
There are two main types of systems - conventional and aerobic. Conventional systems(or drainfield system) have one or more tanks that are attached to a pipe with holes in it. The liquid in the system is sent through the pipe to a drainfield. There are no mechanical pieces to the drainfield. Common issues with a drainfield are cracked pipes and tree branches in the system.
There are two main types of systems - conventional and aerobic. Aerobic systems are modern systems that use oxygen to create bacteriia that eats the sewage. The resulting water is then sent through a sprinkler system and expelled into the air.
This depends on the number of people in your home and the size of your system. See the chart for details.
